The danger of Christian Lit

Christian books seem to have a similar theme - - - > Here are some stories compiled with some verses and the insight gathered from my life's experience.

aka - here is how I conquered the sin in my life and you can too!!! (for only 15.99 plus shipping and handling, unless you've earned enough points on your amazon card to get another 15% off.)

Deep.

While I agree that other literature can bring deeper insight and a different perspective I am also a firm believer in knowing the Bible first. The reasoning behind this personal rule is the fact that the Bible is absolutely the true, God breathed foundation for every true believer. On the other hand human wisdom, found in such aforementioned books, can never replace or supplement the complete word of God.

Human conclusions are just that - - - human. As such we should have a filter of truth to equip us as believers to weed out everything that goes against the word of God.

I pray that the Lord will reveal His nature and truth to you through His word this week.

Challenge everything with God's word. ;)

I agree. I've watched churches take this kind of literature to unhealthy levels. That's not to say another perspective can't be helpful. We just need to guard our hearts with His word.

A major problem I have with spiritual books is that they make it sound like faith is a solitary thing. I believe God wants us to experience our journey with Him in the community of others. If I didn't have people like you and Zack and Alissa in my life, my relationship with God would be much harder.
