Movement, sound, texture, light, color, feelings, emoting.... art

A sense of movement can take you from where you are and place you in the imagination of the artist. Adding in sound as a layer can be the butter-cream frosting to my delectable chocolate cake. Texture is the grating sensation of reality, not necessarily in a bad way.

Light, or the lack of it, can draw you in or repel you like the message you read in a stranger's eye. Resulting feelings, lifetime reelings, inward peelings brings sustenance for our thoughts. Outbound thoughts reap emotions, and emoting reaps consciousness and one can only hope that consciousness reaps change.

Artists open understanding for me. Traveling in foreign countries, eating foreign food and observing the local living art gives me more than a scrapbook full of tourism. Caring for the culture and the individuals of each city requires a time of rest and friendship.

Touring HUGE galleries, quaint churches, giant monasteries on mountain tops and buddist temples with a dwindling attendance of devote old women has only opened the door to my understanding.

Hyun is a great friend. We met on the third floor of a Starbucks when I asked her about the time and for some help with directions. She was an art student at the local university and we quickly made plans for the following day. She took me inside the city with quiet tucked-away coffee shops (hiding from the pounding monsoon outside) while ducking into her favorite nooks and crannys in a bordering city of Seoul.

Even though we lost contact after she moved to Europe I still think of her and the perspective she gave me. Anyone can help a stranger in need but do we ever think of putting our life on pause life to invest the life of someone else?

The pulse of the city and the soon-to-be friends in the center of it all. Hopefully this will give you a bit of inspiration to get out there, grab some java and meet someone new.... or just tour the local gallery.
